“Tactus” Design?

by admin on March 16, 2009

Some customers have been a little bemused by the name Tactus Design, and from our portfolio it seems that we just cater for musicians. We thought a few words of explanation might be of interest to customers . . .

Tactus Design was founded by two musicians who had attended music college together and who, finding a common interest in computers and the Internet, decided to build their own websites. Early days and, without any training, the results were, to say the least, decidedly poor!

But as is the case with most musicians, the logic of the Internet and computer programming was a great attraction: “Code is poetry,” or so the saying goes and, although we would both rather enjoy reading Walt Whitman instead of wading through page after page of php code, the pleasure of seeing the results of several hours tinkering with code is pretty much the same as spending several hours putting line upon line of music together to form a comprehensible whole.

Obviously, when we decided to form Tactus Design, our first customers were musicians, and our reputation amongst those in the profession has resulted in more than the average number of commissions for professional performers. Our reputation does not stop there, however. Indeed, we have produced as many commercial websites and websites for organisations as we have for others. The reason why we have so many musicians in our portfolio is that they often command such unusual sites that we are always pleased with the results and are keen to show them off!”

This should not put off other potential customers. Musicians are amongst the most demanding of people. I’m not complaining about them, but I have found that their standards are so high that, when it comes to designing for others, we are able to provide just that little extra, to give people the site they really want. This is what I think is important about Tactus Design. We have high standards, like typical musicians, but we also have been trained to have a feel for our audience and respond to their needs in the most simple and straightforward manner we can.
